Golden swim: 55-year-old resident of Yekaterinburg Svetlana Libanova won six gold medals at the International Amateur Games. The competition took place in mid-October in China.
Mixed relay, distance of 50 meters and lagging behind the closest opponent at the start – about 15 of them. Despite this, Svetlana Libanova managed to come to the finish line first. In total, at the International Amateur Games in China, the Ural athlete took part in seven heats. She brought the same number of medals:
“I brought six gold medals and one bronze medal that I won. But I changed one gold medal to a silver one with a Chinese woman who sailed ten distances so that I had a collection. ”
Such generosity is not accidental. The collection of medals of the Ural swimmer is impressive, including gold, bronze and silver from the championship of Russia. Svetlana won all these trophies over the past year and a half after returning to swimming, which she was engaged in until she was 14 years old. At competitions in China, among the rivals were the same sports veterans.
Svetlana Libanova, winner of the International Amateur Games “One Belt, One Way”: “The competition was not professionals, but, as a rule, former athletes. That’s probably how the former athletes do not exist. But if I didn’t swim for 41 years, someone returned to the sport ten years later when he finished his sports career. ”
The secret of success, says Svetlana, is in regular training. She goes to the pool at least four times a week: she works out breath holding and the technique of different swimming styles. Here, almost like in the gym, only instead of dumbbells for pumping muscles there are special shoulder blades, and instead of weights – brakes:
“I swim 200 meters, put on the brakes, well, the remaining two kilometers, two and a half, three – from my health, I swim in the brakes. When I shoot them, I fly like a rocket. ”
The result of such training is not only victory in competitions. Thanks to classes in the pool, the athlete is recognized, she improved her physical condition. In addition, swimming helps her relax after mental work – she is a doctor of law. A positive effect on the body of water sports is also confirmed by professional trainers.
Galina Zhdanova, swimming coach: “Both the hardening effect and the massage effect. If you look at people – they are swimming, everyone is smiling. That is, it’s even to support this kind of mood. ”
So Svetlana goes to the competition for pleasure. Already, she plans the next race at the European Championships. Competitions will be held in 2020 in Budapest.
